Founded by Ronald and Jayme Stewart in 1969, York Prep is an independent college-preparatory day school for students in Grades 6 through 12 located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Our goal is to educate our students and prepare them for a 21st -century world.  In our students, we wish to instill an unwavering integrity, a desire to learn in a rigorous academic environment, and enthusiastic participation in their community. Our philosophy is that the potential for success motivates every student. Compassionate and skilled educators creatively address the individual needs and interests of the diverse student body.  For every student, we create an individualized and challenging program of study within a traditional curriculum.   As a result, we nurture lifelong learners who become leaders in their fields and communities.

York Preparatory School is ideally situated in New York City, the international hub for commerce, finance, media, art, research, technology, education, and entertainment. The school is located in the Upper West Side neighborhood of Manhattan, and draws students from all five boroughs—Brooklyn, the Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island—thus making it a diverse educational environment.
